Ambulatory blood pressure monitor (ABMP) involves continuous measurement of arterial blood pressure under your normal daily conditions. It is important for the diagnosis of arterial hypertension, monitoring the effectiveness of therapy, and other clinical assessments.
At predetermined intervals, the device automatically measures your blood pressure. The system consists of a monitor and an arm cuff. The cuff is placed on the upper arm, while the monitor can be secured with a strap around the neck or worn on a belt.
As with Holter ECG monitoring, it is essential for the patient to record daily activities and symptoms during the monitoring period. This method is significantly more accurate than occasional single measurements and allows detailed analysis of blood pressure fluctuations.
